WDF*IDF is a formula from search engine optimisation that is used to analyse which terms appear particularly often or particularly rarely in a text. It helps to determine the optimal distribution of topically relevant words within a text.

The aim is not to repeat a keyword as often as possible, but to cover a topic as completely and as naturally as possible.

How does WDF*IDF work?

The formula compares your text with other well ranking pages on the same topic. It analyses which terms appear particularly often and which important words may be missing.

If you write a text about SEO, for example, terms such as the following could also be important, even though they are not the main keyword:

WDF stands for the weighting of a term within a document. IDF describes how rarely or how often this term appears in other documents in general.

Why is WDF*IDF important?

WDF*IDF can help to make texts more complete in terms of topic and to add relevant terms.

Today, however, the method is often used less strictly than it used to be. Modern search engines understand content considerably better and pay more attention to topics, context and search intent than to individual keywords alone.
