The op-s Center in Graz-St. Peter is a centre for orthopaedics and trauma surgery with its own operating theatre for outpatient procedures, plus pain therapy, physiotherapy and massage. When Dr Gerald Friedl came to us in 2024, the practice had a wealth of expertise – but on the website it was hard to find.

The old site ran on a basic template and consisted mainly of long blocks of text. There were no clear, dedicated pages for the individual services and operations. Hardly any new patients came via the website.

So the problem was not the content but the structure. The website informed, but it did not lead anyone to an appointment. And until we set up Google Analytics in September 2024, there was no way of seeing whether Google brought in any appointments at all. In orthopaedics, where many practices compete for the same searches, that is not enough.

After · today

  • A dedicated page for every specialist area
  • 60 pages on operations and conditions
  • New, easy-to-read design for all surgery pages
  • No. 1 in AI answers, Oct 2026

Today every specialist area has its own page – from the knee specialist to the sports orthopaedist in Graz. On top of that there are 60 pages on operations and conditions that answer exactly the questions patients ask themselves before a procedure. Since September 2026 they have all had a new, easy-to-read design.

From October 2025 to September 2026 the website received 22,205 clicks from Google. From July to September 2026, clicks from Austria were 21% higher than in the same period of 2025, and three times as many search terms now rank in Google’s top 3.

The op-s Center is ahead in AI answers too: in the ranking by visibility, the practice is No. 1 among all doctors and clinics mentioned (as of 7 Oct 2026). Asked (in German) “Who is the best orthopaedist in Graz?”, ChatGPT has named it in every answer since June 2026.

Approach

Four steps to more revenue.

Clicks are only a step along the way. What counts for us is who is looking for an appointment – in other words, revenue.

  1. 01

    Relaunch, foundations & tracking

A new website with a dedicated page for every specialist area – and tracking that shows which page patients call or book from.

    Relaunch Specialist pages Tracking

Every contact via the website becomes visible.

    Read moreShow less

The new website went live in June 2024. Instead of long text pages, every specialist area got its own page: knee, hip, shoulder, elbow, hand, foot, ankle and spine, plus sports orthopaedics, pain therapy, physiotherapy, massage and outpatient surgery.

We redirected the old URLs to the new pages so that nothing Google already knew was lost. And from every page, online booking is just one click away.

In September 2024 we set up Google Analytics. Until then the practice had been flying blind: nobody could see how many visitors came via Google. Since January 2026 every visit to the booking page has been counted as well.

On 5 October 2026 we switched tracking to Google Tag Manager – the same set-up we use for all our clients. Since then every call made via the website, every contact form sent and every online booking started is counted. We also track first touch: we can see which page someone first arrived on – even if they only call or book days later.

We only measure when visitors consent. Our own cookie banner has handled this since 29 September 2026: Google Analytics, YouTube and Google Maps only load after consent.

  2. 02

    Keyword strategy & surgery pages

Pages for the operations and conditions patients actually search for – from thumb arthritis to hip replacement.

High-intent searches Surgery pages Hand & foot

Found when patients are looking into surgery.

More visitors alone do not bring in patients. So we first examined what people search for before deciding on an operation – and for which services the practice has real potential.

From September 2024 this led to pages on operations and conditions, first for the hand and foot – such as trigger finger release, rhizarthrosis (thumb arthritis) surgery or Morton’s neuroma – and in March 2025 for the hip. Today there are 60 pages. The page on rhizarthrosis surgery alone brought in 411 clicks from July to September 2026.

  3. 03

    Data-led page rework

In 2026 we made targeted improvements to existing pages: a clear structure, frequently asked questions, sources and a new, easy-to-read design.

FAQs & sources Rich snippets New design

More than twice as many clicks on these pages.

    Read moreShow less

In 2026 we turned to the existing pages. We rewrote the content of eight treatment pages, including hallux valgus surgery, high-arched foot (pes cavus), shoulder impingement, tennis elbow surgery and spinal injections – with a clear outline of the procedure, frequently asked questions, scientific sources and links to the relevant specialists.

From July to September 2026 these eight pages received 479 clicks from Google, compared with 223 in the same period of 2025 – an increase of 115%. In September 2026 two new pages on cruciate ligament tears were added, and all 60 surgery pages got a new, easy-to-read design with a table of contents and reading time.

  4. 04

    Authority & AI visibility

Expert articles on other sites strengthen Google’s trust. And we measure how often ChatGPT & co. name the practice.

    Backlinks Expert articles GEO

Named when patients ask AI for advice.

In medicine, trust counts. That is why the practice is mentioned on other reputable sites – for example in expert articles on outpatient hand surgery and on tenosynovitis surgery, and in an overview of recommended orthopaedic practices in Graz. We wrote the article on hand surgery ourselves.

Since June 2026 we have also been measuring whether AI assistants name the practice – with real patient questions (asked in German) such as “Who is the best orthopaedist in Graz?” in ChatGPT, Google’s AI Overview and AI Mode. From 24 July to 1 October 2026 the practice was cited as a source 390 times – more often than any other provider. In the ranking by visibility it is No. 1 (as of 7 Oct 2026).
